Melissa Groves

1. Nickname: Mel, MelMel or Muscles
2. Occupation: Realtor for Keller Williams
3. Hometown: Rochester, NY.
4. Which class do you usually attend? 8:30, followed by Ted’s class
5. How long have you been crossfitting? 9 months
6. What is your favorite and least favorite lift? Hmm, my favorite lift would have to be the front squat, my least favorite is snatches. Wide grip on the bar and lifting that sucker overhead, yeah, not my fav.
7. What is your athletic background? Growing up I was never into sports or anything that required me to sweat. LOL But after having my daughter I joined a gym and started running. Now I hate to even miss a day of CF.
8. How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?  Crossfit has dramatically changed my life. I feel better than I ever have and I that has translated into my life outside of the gym as well. I love CF and my CFHT family.
9. What is your biggest accomplishment so far at CFHT?? Pull Ups! Still a work in progress, but it was one of my goals for 2015. Every new PR is an accomplishment.
10. What are your goals for CF? Short term, I would love to get my kipping pull ups and HSPU’s down. Long term, I would like to see how far I can go in every aspect of CF. This is all still new to me, I love tracking my progress, seeing where I’m at today to where I was 3 months ago is exciting. I was never able to do that when I was working out at a traditional gym.
11. What do you do in your free time? Good grief, I’m kind of all over the place. Real estate keeps me pretty busy but I love to hang out by the pool or go out to the beach when it’s warm. Reading, trying new restaurants and bowling are also a few things I like to do in my free time.
12. What is your favorite cheat food? Cereal is definitely my cheat food morning, noon and night. Love it!
13. Tell us something most people wouldn’t know about you. I love to play poker.
14. Any advice for new members? Don’t give up! Keep trying, even when it sucks, over time the movements that seem foreign won’t. And something I’ve learned since starting CF is to not listen to outsiders, CF get a lot of heat from folks who have never stepped inside a box. Don’t let the negative Nancy’s stop you from doing something out of their own fears or doubts.
