Growing up, I played high school football and was also a weightlifter, so competition was part of my daily life. During my time in college, I missed the competitive aspect of fitness. In January of 2012, I was introduced to CrossFit and it completely changed how I thought about physical activity. I learned I could compete with my friends and have a fun time doing it. I quickly realized that I needed to educate myself more on my functional movement patterns and how I was fueling my body in terms of nutrition. These lifestyle changes helped me not only in my professional career as a certified athletic trainer but also personally as a busy husband and father. As a CrossFit coach for almost ten years, I am now able to see similar changes in the athletes I coach every day. With each class, I can help change the lives of others. Watching athletes learn and grow through new movements or just general wellness cues is a true inspiration and I feel blessed to have this opportunity here at CrossFit HighTide!
